Cookie Policy
Cookies used on theopslayer.com and how to manage them.
Last updated 10 October 2026
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses as few as it can: one to remember your choice, and analytics cookies only if you say yes.
The two kinds we use
- Strictly necessary: the cookie that remembers your consent choice. The site cannot respect your choice without it, so it does not need consent. If you log in to manage the site, WordPress also sets its own login cookies; ordinary visitors never receive these.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, which tell us which pages are read and where people get stuck. Clarity also records sessions, with anything typed into forms masked. These load only after you accept them.
We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking for advertising.
The cookies, in full
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
ol_consent | The Ops Layer | Remembers your cookie choice, so we do not ask on every page. | 12 months | Necessary |
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another. | 2 years | Analytics |
_ga_* | Google Analytics | Keeps the state of your current visit. | 2 years | Analytics |
_clck | Microsoft Clarity | Keeps a Clarity visitor ID and settings. | 1 year | Analytics |
_clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins page views into one session recording. | 1 day | Analytics |
CLID | Microsoft Clarity | Recognizes a returning Clarity visitor. | 1 year | Analytics |
MUID | Microsoft | Identifies a browser across Microsoft services, used by Clarity. | 1 year | Analytics |
If our newsletter provider sets cookies on signup or in email links, they will be listed here before the newsletter launches.
How consent works
On your first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics. Accepting and rejecting are equally easy. Until you accept, Google Analytics and Clarity do not load at all, so nothing is recorded. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a rejection of analytics.
Changing your mind
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page to change your choice at any time. Withdrawing consent stops analytics from that point on. To ask us to delete analytics data already collected, write to vishnu@theopslayer.com.
Browser controls
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking the necessary cookie means the site will ask for your choice on every visit.
