A hypothesis about where your execution is breaking.

The Execution Architecture Snapshot is a free diagnostic for founders who suspect that decisions, handoffs, and exceptions have started routing through them, and want to see the pattern named before deciding what to do about it.

You answer ten questions about how you believe your company runs today. Every submission is read personally by the founder, and a one-page Snapshot comes back within one working day.

Skip ahead and apply for the Sprint

In the last two weeks, how many decisions reached you that someone on your team should have been able to make?

What the Snapshot contains. One page, four parts.

The pattern

  • Founder as escalation layer
  • Handoff drag between functions
  • A cadence that produces updates
  • AI output on an undesigned layer

The likely primary constraint

Cross-functional decision rights live in people's heads.

  1. The pattern.

Which of the recurring execution failures your answers point to:

    • founder as escalation layer
    • handoff drag between functions
    • a leadership cadence that produces updates instead of decisions
    • AI output landing on an operating layer that was never designed to carry it
  2. The likely primary constraint.

The single structural gap most likely to be generating the rest.

Most companies have several problems and one cause.

  3. One thing to measure this week.

A specific count you can run yourself in five days: escalations that reached you, decisions that stalled, or work that restarted.

    Numbers before opinions.

  4. Whether a Sprint fits.

A straight answer. Some companies are too early, some have a hiring problem rather than an architecture problem, and some are ready.

    You will be told which.

The questions are the point.

An automated tool would ask you for an email and return a score. The Snapshot asks you ten questions that a Sprint would ask in its first hour, because answering them is already useful.

Founders regularly find the pattern themselves somewhere around question six.

A person reviews it because the answers carry context that a form cannot score.

Four questions, one company

  • Pricing exceptionsThe founder decides
  • Customer commitmentsThe founder decides
  • Hiring callsThe founder decides
  • Go-live datesThe founder decides

One question, four people

  • FounderIt comes to me
  • Head of ProductA named owner decides
  • Engineering leadA meeting decides
  • Head of SalesIt gets postponed

A company where "the founder decides" is the honest answer to four questions is in a different situation from one where four different people gave four different answers to the same question. The Snapshot reads for that.

Treat the Snapshot as a hypothesis. It is built from what you report. The 7-Day Clarity Sprint tests that hypothesis against what your company documents and what the trail in Slack, Jira, and your CRM actually shows.

Execution Architecture Snapshot

Ten to fifteen minutes if you answer honestly. Longer if you go and count the escalations from the last two weeks first, which is the better way to do it.

Company name and website.

Your role.

Which functions are scaling at the same time right now?

Select all that apply.

In the last two weeks, how many decisions reached you that someone on your team should have been able to make?

Name the one decision that keeps coming back to you.

A pricing exception, a customer commitment, a hiring call, a go-live date. One sentence.

When Product, Engineering, and GTM disagree on a tradeoff, where does it get resolved?

Does your leadership team have written decision rights for cross-functional calls?

What happens next

You submit.

Ten to fifteen minutes if you answer honestly.

Within one working day

you receive your Snapshot by email. It is one page and it is direct. If the answers point to a founder-routing pattern, it will say so. If they point to something a Sprint would not fix, it will say that too.

If a Sprint fits

and you want one, the application is on the Sprint page. Two slots open each month.

Apply for the Sprint

If it does not fit yet

the Snapshot will tell you what to measure first and when to come back.

No follow-up calls unless you ask for one. Questions go to vishnu@theopslayer.com.

Before you start

Is the Snapshot really free?

Yes. There is no upsell inside it and no call attached to it. It exists because the questions are useful and because it tells both sides quickly whether a Sprint makes sense.

How long does it take to complete?

Ten to fifteen minutes if you answer honestly. Longer if you go and count the escalations from the last two weeks first, which is the better way to do it.

Who reads my answers?

The founder of The Ops Layer, and nobody else. Your answers are used to write your Snapshot and are handled under the Privacy Policy.

Can I just apply for the Sprint instead?

Yes. If you already know the pattern applies, skip the Snapshot and apply for the Sprint directly. The Sprint's Day 0 intake covers the same ground in more depth.

What if my company is smaller than 60 people?

Complete it anyway. The Snapshot will say whether the architecture problem has arrived yet or whether you are still at the stage where founder judgment is the right operating system. Both are legitimate answers.
